It’s very hard to be homeless. It’s very demeaning. You’re invisible. Nobody can see you, because they don’t want to. Society needs to jump in here. Feeding once a day is not enough. More shelters are needed, a lot more, and the police need to back off. It shouldn’t be illegal to sleep in your car. You can only stay in a campground for so long. And you can’t put a pup tent up on private property, not legally anyway. And you eat so unhealthy when you’re homeless! You get some change, you grab a burger. I mean, where are you going to cook, without utensils and a stove? You’re not going to starve to death in America, but malnutrition is a factor. And not enough sleep. You have to be watchful at night, especially if you’re a girl. It’s very unsafe, sleeping out. Homelessness turns you into a criminal. You’ll steal, shoplift, anything to survive. And you start using drugs, even if you didn’t before, you start self-medicating. Anything to kill the pain.
